We Couldn’t Find
When we met, we discovered that we shared a deep passion for education and community. Thomaz created an entire organization dedicated to empowering low-income families—not simply by providing financial assistance, but by helping them build micro-businesses that could generate sustainable income and long-term opportunities. Today, he works in private banking and investments, bringing his experience in leadership, finance, and community development to Colibrii.
At the same time, after years of working with different educational philosophies, I learned to thoughtfully combine the strongest elements of each approach. My goal was simple: to create an education that adapts to each child, rather than expecting the child to fit into one specific method.
Together, we decided to build: a school where children are respected as unique and capable individuals, and where families are supported, empowered, and connected through a strong sense of community.
We shared this vision with our partners, who believed in us and recognized the potential of what we wanted to create. With their trust and support, an idea became a reality and here we are today: Colibrii Child Academy.

Is Colibrii a Montessori / Reggio / Waldorf school?
Not exactly — and that's intentional. Our approach is inspired by Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and Waldorf, taking the absolute best of each. It is an eclectic philosophy, the first of its kind in Miami.
My child doesn't speak three languages. Will they keep up?
Absolutely. Children absorb languages naturally at this age. Our trilingual environment (EN/ES/PT) is immersive and playful — no prior exposure is needed.
